First there was only the Paul Whub to chose from for my wide forks. Now Phil Wood is also making a 135mm front hub with wide and equal flange spacing.
It has very large flanges, 84.5mm.
Wheel strength and stiffness is greatly improved with the wide and equal flange spacing. I don’t think I will ever taco a wheel again like I sometimes would with a normal 100mm hub that has narrow and unequal flange spacing.
I hope this catches on. It’s nice being able to use such light spokes, nipples and rims but still end up with an incredibly strong wheel.

Phil has made a very nice job there! What is the flange distance of the hub?

The Phil hub is 36mm from the center to flange, 72mm flange to flange. The Paul hub is 10mm wider at the flanges with a measurement of 41mm from center to flange, 82mm flange to flange. Since the Paul hub is wider it should build up a slight stronger wheel.
