What is the Jones Plus LWB? (back to top)
The Jones Plus LWB was in development for years and introduced in 2014. It has proven itself as one of the most versatile bikes around, winning awards for its abilities as a bikepacking bike, as well as praise for just about all other types of riding. The long wheelbase with set back and upright position puts you in a position that's comfortable and relaxed yet very efficient and great for everything from technical trails to long road rides! It's a bike for touring, commuting, bikepacking, road riding, or mountain biking.
The Jones Plus LWB is a bike for riding fast, slow, the rough with the smooth; safely, aggressively, laid-back or raging; with a big load or stripped to the bare essentials; on road, dirt, mud, snow; in the mountains, on the flat lands, around town or across the county; around the world or your local loop; for getting rad or just getting away. It sets the standard for bikepacking, but it’s so much more than that – it’s a bike for technical trails and big trips. It really does it all.
Comparison between SWB and LWB
The SWB and LWB have the same fit. Both handle superbly on and off-road. The difference between them is the distance between the axles (the wheelbase) and the tires you can use with them. The SWB is a little more agile – it can fit 29” x 2.3” - 2.6” or 27.5” x 2.8” - 3.25” tires. The SWB requires less effort to lift the front (or back) end – useful on very technical trails. The LWB is reassuringly planted on steep climbs and descents. It’s great for loaded rides and has room for a center kickstand mount. The LWB can fit tall 29” x 2.3” - 3.25” tires which (with its longer wheelbase) make it smoother and more stable on rough terrain.
The geometry Jeff has created is unlike most other bikes. At 42.98"/1091.72 mm, the wheelbase of the SWB is by no means short. It’s just shorter than the Jones LWB.
The Jones Plus SWB is the shorter wheelbase Jones bike with smaller 27.5” x 2.8” - 3.0" tires.
The Jones Plus LWB is the longer wheelbase Jones bike with taller 29” x 2.8” - 3.0" tires.

- Big and tall Jones Spec. wheelset with 29" x 3"/700c x 82 mm knobby or 29” x 2.8”/700c x 71 mm smooth, tubeless ready tires on 50 mm wide rims allow you to run very low pressures (10 psi - 15 psi).
- Jones Spec. rims are taped and tubeless ready for maximum suppleness, better traction, more flotation and comfort along with lower rolling resistance, less flats and more safety, on or off road!
- Big tire clearance. Room for 29” x 3.25”.
- Jones 710 mm Loop H-Bar and H-Grips provide better handling and more comfort than a traditional bar. A wide range of better hand and body positions ensure more power, comfort and control. Our most popular bar and grip combination.
- Wide range SRAM SX 1 x 12 drivetrain. Single click shifter for reliable shifting with greater durability.
- Fits up to a 38T chainring. This is comparable to the gearing of a road triple with a similar fast gear and an easier climbing gear.
- AVID BB7 Mechanical/cable actuated disk brakes with large 203 mm front and 180 mm rear rotors. Easy to adjust and super durable with plenty of stopping power.
- Five rear rack and fender bosses, one on the dropout and four in the seatstay, for the best rack/fender/tire size fit, or for mounting water bottles. The fork can hold two more water bottles.
- Full fender bosses on the seat and chainstay bridges.
- Rack bosses on upper seatstays.
- Triple-boss cage mount underneath the downtube.
- One triple-boss cage mount on the top of the down tube near the bottom bracket (use it to for a standard two-bolt bottle cage, or a three-bolt cage), and one standard two-boss mount closer to the headtube.

Then we tune, adjust and test ride your bike, tune it again and then carefully pack it back up and send it to you, or you can pick it up here (customer keeps take-off parts).
4- Complete Jones Bike order with added parts: We can add parts and accessories to your bike order to be installed later.

This is a complete Jones bicycle that is pre-assembled, in a box, available in three sizes. Shipping for this bike in the contiguous United States is a flat rate. Please note: We expect to be shipping orders up to about two weeks from the time it was placed.
This is a complete, pre-assembled and boxed bike without pedals. It should be built, tuned and maintained by a qualified bicycle mechanic.
