About us

My name is Jeff Jones. I'm a cyclist committed to the non-suspended bicycle. My ideas and passion have created an exceptional ride - a trail-blazing geometry that delivers superb handling, comfort and efficiency. My bikes are available in titanium and steel, to be ridden off-road (and on) for exploring and racing, adventures and fun. They are outrageously responsive bicycles - frame and forks designed in harmony to provide a rigid bicycle that is anything but. A pure cycling experience like no other.

This Jones Spec. HD/e 148 mm x 12 mm thru-axle hub has 36 holes, allowing you to build up wheels with more spokes for better strength and durability. The 4 freehub pawls and the ratchet teeth are larger than what’s found in most hubs adding to the overall strength. Cutaways in the flanges keep weight to a minimum. The hub has Boost spacing with sealed cartridge bearings, a 6-bolt disk brake pattern, and your choice of freehub and axle.

Options:

  • Shimano HG steel freehub with steel or aluminum axle
  • Shimano HG aluminum freehub with steel or aluminum axle
  • SRAM XD freehub with steel or aluminum axle
  • Shimano Microspline freehub with aluminum axle

For maximum stiffness and durability, we recommend 4130 chromoly steel for the axle and Shimano HG freehub body. This is how we spec our complete LWB HD/e complete bicycles and E-Bikes. The freehub body is compatible with 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 speed cassettes that are designed to work with Shimano HG freehub bodies. This hub is excellent for E-Bikes or for carrying heavy loads.

Aluminum SRAM XD and Shimano HG freehub bodies are available and are about 85 g lighter than the steel HG freehub. These can be used on either the steel axle, or be combined with a Jones Spec. Aluminum Axle for even greater weight savings. Both freehub bodies have 4 pawls for 40 points of engagement and use sealed cartridge bearings.

A Shimano Microspline freehub body is also available which allows the use of 11 and 12 speed Shimano Microspline cassettes with a 10 tooth small cog. It has 4 pawls for 40 points of engagement and has sealed cartridge bearings. The Microspline option comes with an aluminum axle that is specific to this freehub. It is not the same as the Jones Spec. Aluminum Axle.
